Quality Invisible Clear Braces
With the emergence of clear braces, the traditional wire and bracket braces are no longer the popular method for straightening teeth. Wearing clear aligners can boost your self-esteem and improve your physical appearance. Clear aligners are produced by using innovative computer technology which predicts the movement of teeth. This allows the removable appliances to straighten the teeth gradually.
Which conditions can be treated with Invisible Braces?
Invisible braces are used to address the following oral problems:
- Crooked teeth
- Widely spaced or crowded teeth
- Overbite or over-jet
Invisible braces are not recommended for children and younger teenagers; they are designed for older teenagers and adults. The ideal braces for children and younger teenagers are the traditional metal braces with wire fitted on the front teeth. Before deciding on getting your braces in, consult with your orthodontist or dentist to guide you in your selection. Since clear aligners were designed mainly for adults because of the need for outright and unyielding cooperation; the trays must stay in your mouth 22 hours each day.
Types of Invisible Braces
There are several popular types of cosmetic braces which include inside braces, ceramic brackets and clear aligners.
Inside braces
Are pinned to the back of the teeth and so cannot be seen. Scanned images of the inside of the teeth are made by recent iBraces. These images are used to create custom brackets specially designed by a computer. These are then fixed to the inside of the upper teeth and occasionally the lower teeth.
Inside braces appeal mostly to persons who may feel uncomfortable wearing clear or metal braces with ceramic or metal brackets.
Ceramic Braces
or clear braces are manufactured from composite materials. These composite materials are fragile and not as strong as metal braces. With ceramic braces brackets matching the color of the teeth are used to straighten the teeth. They are made to blend well with the color of your teeth making them less obvious than the metal.
Ceramic braces need ligatures or small rubber bands to keep them attached to the arch wire. These ligatures are white and so are prone to discoloration but this is not a big issue since the ligatures are removed and replaced by new ones whenever you go for your monthly adjustment.
Ceramic braces are similar to metal braces in that they cannot be removed before the treatment is completed. They can also cause discomfort and irritation and may cause difficulties in eating, drinking or in the regular care of the teeth.
Clear aligners
are a set of removable aligners which are customized to fit your teeth. They are virtually invisible, irritation free, minimally invasive and not prone to clouding during wear. They contain no brackets which can become loose or wires can break causing you discomfort. They can also be taken out when eating or drinking, so making brushing and flossing more easily to do.
Clear aligners are prepared after the dentist or orthodontist takes impressions of your teeth. These impressions are then sent to a laboratory which uses computerized technology to build your custom-fit aligners. After they are completed at the lab, they are sent to your dentist or orthodontist who will call you in to fit them. Clear aligners are delivered in sets. Each set will be worn for a specific period of time but must be removed only when you drink, eat, and also when you brush and floss.
As each set of clear aligner is replaced by new ones, your teeth will move slowly into place until all your teeth are properly spaced.
